Kyle Wiltjer had 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Bulldogs steamrolled past the Lions in West Coast Conference play for their 18th consecutive victory.
Przemek Karnowski and Byron Wesley had 11 points apiece to help pave the way for Gonzaga (25-1, 13-0) to run its home winning streak over Loyola Marymount to 26. Domantas Sabonis contributed 10 points and eight rebounds and Kevin Pangos added nine points on three 3-pointers and eight assists.
David Humphries scored 11 points for the Lions (8-18, 4-10), who shot 29.4 percent from the field. Evan Payne scored eight points and Ayodeji Egbeyemi added seven for Loyola Marymount.
Gonzaga rolled off 20 consecutive points to start the game and the Lions finally got on the board on a free throw by Egbeyemi with 11:52 left in the half. Loyola Marymount’s first field goal came on Egbeyemi’s jumper with 7:58 remaining and the Lions ended the half 3-of-25 from the field while staring at a 44-15 deficit.
Loyola Marymount scored the first seven points of the second half before the Bulldogs restored order and Wiltjer’s layup made it 56-28 with 14 minutes to play. Two free throws by Sabonis increased the lead to 31 with 8:48 left and Gonzaga continued to cruise to the finish.GAME NOTEBOOK:
The Bulldogs have won the last 12 meetings. … Humphries had three of Loyola Marymount’s six 3-pointers while Wiltjer made four of Gonzaga’s eight. … The Bulldogs possessed a 46-30 edge on the boards.
